David Neal Stern

David Neal Stern focuses his practice in the areas of business bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and commercial litigation. He is based in the firm’s Boca Raton office.

Mr. Stern primarily assists business enterprises in resolving contractual and other disputes before bankruptcy courts, other federal courts, and state courts, and through out-of-court negotiations. His bankruptcy decisions include In re Maison Grande Condominium Ass’n, Inc., 425 B.R. 684 (Bankr. S.D. Fla. 2010), In re Farber, 355 B.R. 362 (Bankr. S.D. Fla. 2006), and In re La Jolla Village Professional Center Assocs., 2002 WL 1001067 (9th Cir. 2002). He has lectured on various bankruptcy topics.

Prior to practicing in Florida, Mr. Stern was a partner at the national law firm of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP in its Atlanta office. His reported Georgia decisions include Quantum Trading Corp. v. Forum Realty Corp., 629 S.E.2d 420 (Ga. App. 2006); Wabash Metal Products, Inc. v. AT Plastics Corp., 575 S.E.2d 683 (Ga. App. 2002); Kilburn v. Young, 569 S.E.2d 879 (Ga. App. 2002); Good Ol' Days Commissary, Inc. v. Longcrier Family Ltd. Partnership I, 522 S.E.2d 249 (Ga. App. 1999); United Parcel Service v. Moore, 519 S.E.2d 15 (Ga. App. 1999); and McClure v. Mason, 493 S.E.2d 16 (Ga. App. 1997).

While practicing in Atlanta, Mr. Stern was on the board of directors of the Atlanta Bar Association, provided pro bono representation through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, and worked with other lawyers and judges on a bar committee known as the Atlanta Bard Association to write, produce, and perform in an annual original musical comedy to raise funds for various philanthropic projects.

Mr. Stern is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Florida Bar, the Georgia Bar, and state and federal trial and appellate courts in Florida and Georgia.

Prior to commencing law practice, Mr. Stern graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Florida Law Review and a member of the moot court team. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, served as student body treasurer, and was a member of Florida Blue Key.

Mr. Stern is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He and his wife, who is also an attorney, have two young children.
